Back to School Night @ NUMC
Last night was Avery's turn to get back into school. We went to school to meet her new teachers and see her new classroom. She will be in the Spiders class, which meets Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Avery's usually my outgoing child, willing to go into any new situation. Unfortunately, I think Lucas has rubbed off on her. She was very shy and standoff-ish. Didn't wanna talk to the teachers at all!! Luckily her friends, Ally, Grace, and Abby, were there too. She mainly colored and ignored the teacher when she was talking to her! Hopefully she'll warm up because the first day of school is monday!!
Lake McConaughy
This weekend we went camping with some friends at Lake McConaughy, which is in Ogalalla, NE. For my second attempt camping, it went very well, thanks to Rikki and Charlie and their fifth wheel! :)
We headed out to Nebraska right after school on Friday. We got to Ogalalla around 630 and had dinner at McDonald's. Lucas said, Mommy, we don't eat at McDonald's. There's a Wendy's over there, we should just eat there. Now he only knows about Wendy's because we've taken them there for frosties.
Anyway, we got to camp around 7pm, and thanks to the Studebakers, our tent was already set up and air mattresses were blown up. The kids immediately ran off to play in the sand and water!
We made s'mores when it got dark and sent the kids off to bed around 9. Saturday morning, we had breakfast and went out on the boat with the Landers.
Rikki and Eric did some knee boarding, Charlie did some wakeboarding, and I just watched. I really don't think I was made to be in a boat! LOL We came back in for some lunch and the kids just played from sun up til sun down!
I had such a great time and the kids really enjoyed it also! I would do it again in a heartbeat! we'll definitely be back again next summer! :)

Kindergarten... The big leagues.
When did it happen??!?! Have I just slept the past 5 years away??? It went by soooooo fast and this morning I found myself taking Lucas to his first day of Kindergarten. I thought his 5th birthday was a big but dropping him off for kindergarten just reminded me how quickly they grow up!
Enough of that! Lucas is attending Prospect Ridge Academy, temorarily located in Thornton. They're new facility just broke ground on Tuesday and is suppose to be completed by Winter break. It is a core knowledge curriculum with an emphasis in math and science. The school is opening with grades k-6 and adding on a grade every year til 12th grade.
Lucas' teacher is Ms. Cade. She seems super sweet and excited to get the school year started! We know a few families attending PRA also, but none in Lucas' class.
Lucas was a ROCKSTAR this morning!! I was able to drop him off without any hesitation or anxiety! He walked right up to his teacher and stood in line with the other kids! I know he will do GREAT!

Me and Avery waiting for the show to start.

Here's a video clip of the finale.
ON the 4th, we stayed home and Eric worked on our sprinkler system. We had out neighbors over for smoked ribs and all kinds of yummy sides!!
All in all, we had a great weekend!!

45 minutes
A lot can be done in 45 minutes. Make dinner, watch a tv show sans commercials, quiet time, 1 load of laundry in the washer.
For 45 minutes today, I ran. I ran for 45 minutes today on the treadmill at the gym. I did 4.09 miles in 45 minutes.
I feel accomplished today. I never thought I'd ever make it past 3.2 miles and today I ran just a bit more!!
It was definitely a rough go, battling strep over the weekend, but I kicked my ass for 45 minutes and I'm very proud of myself.... I might actually make it to a 10k after all! :)

weekend recap
Avery had her first sleepover friday night! Well, i guess it's not her first... technically she spent the night at Lucas' friend's house first. But this was the first time she got to spend the night at HER friend's house and boy was she excited!!!
She apparently did very well and we are looking forward to having some of Avery's friends over to spend the night!
Lucas got to spend the night at his friend, Dylan's house. Luckily, we were already gonna be there for a family BBQ! :) Although we were kid free for a night, we ended up spending the evening with our friends at the BBQ.
The kids had a birthday party at Lifetime sunday afternoon.... they had a blast!
This weekend is looking up for me.... strep is making a move on out of my system and I'm ready to face the week.
I never got to run my 45 minutes this weekend, so I'm hoping to be able to knock it out Monday morning!!
Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

Summer Camp
I just realized I hadn't posted anything in almost a week, so I better update!!! :) The kids had summer camp this week and boy was it a lifesaver!! 9am-12pm everyday. Of course this would be the week they all decide to sleep in!
Monday- I hit the gym for some treadmill time and got some grocery shopping done.
Tuesday-More treadmill time! :) AND TBC in the afternoon! 2-a-days! It was crazy! It was all done with a little help from my friend SPARK :) After my first round at the gym, we went to the park for picnic with some friends!
Who knew having 4 adults watch 9 kids would be so much work! LOL
After that we headed home for a little down time and then back to the gym for a round of ass kicking by my favorite instructor, Becky. Needless to say, I was tired at the end of the day.
Today the kids took a walking field trip to the park, and I had some retail therapy with a friend on my off day from the gym! :) We then headed off for a playdate right after school!!
Tomorrow the kids have water play day and I will be back at the gym for more treadmill time. :( Exciting right? The kids are both headed to sleepovers tomorrow night which means Mommy and Daddy finally get a date night! Woo hoo!! Maybe I'll get to sleep in!
We've done a pretty good job of keeping busy this week... now what's the plan for next week...

Running update
If you all didn't know already, I'm training for my first 10k in September. I'm using the website www.marathonrookie.com It's a 7 week training schedule and this was my first week.
Monday-run 25 minutes.... check. It wasn't so bad!!
Tuesday-run 2 miles... I had other plans this day, so I made Tuesday my OFF day.
Wednesday-make up run 2 miles... check! It was cake!
Thursday-off day. Since I'm a day behind, I ran 30 minutes today. It went well with a little help from SLAM!! A girlfriend of mine is a distributor for Advocare and recommended Spark and Slam for a little energy boost. Boy did it give me a boost!
Tomorrow is an off day, so I'll be off enjoying the day with the fam bam!
Wish me luck for Saturday... I have to run 3 miles!!! AHHHHHH
If you're interested in any kind of running training... check out the website. It has schedules for a good ol' 5k to a marathon!!

I'm on the "edge"
This weekend we decided to start working on our backyard. We got approval past from the hoa so what better time to start than now.
Who knew there was so much manual labor involved. We headed over to pioneer sand company in northglenn to pick up edging. For those who don't know what it is, it's a piece of metal that separates rock from grass. I didn't realize it would be so much work. Of course Eric did all the work and I gave up after about 2 hours!
It looks good now. Hopefully we'll be able to fill the rocks in tomorrow.

Must.stay.away.....
I really need to stay away from boulder. We had a playdate this afternoon with one of lucas' friends from school. So I decided to kill time in the morning by going to nordstrom rack and lululemon. After 2 hours and 245 dollars later, I was done. Needless to say, I never made it to lululemon. I would've spent way too much today!!
On a different note, Lucas had fun playing with his friend today. Luckily he had a little sister Avery's age. So they all played together very well :)

Let's try this blogging thing again...
So I know I'm seriously slacking in this blogging thing... so let's try again...
I'm not gonna bother trying to recap the past few months so we'll just start from today! :)
We did our annual family pictures today with my FAVORITE photographer Ozzie and her new assistant Annabelle :) We headed to Chataqua Park in Boulder this morning and spent an hour and half snapping away pictures of my little family!! We had a great time and hopefully Ozzie got some great pictures. If you've never been there, here's a link for more info http://www.chautauqua.com/
After we took pictures, we went for lunch at Garbanzo's at the 29th street mall. It was awesome mediterranean fast food. If you're ever in the neighborhood, check it out. Here's the website
I'm gonna try to keep up with my posts... hopefully I'll be better about it this year!!
