Berry Patch Farms

On Wednesday, we took the kids to Berry Patch Farms in Brighton. Berry patch is a farm where you can pick various types of fruits and vegetable and flowers. This place is suppose to be great for kids so our Mom's group planned a trip.
On this day we got to pick raspberries. Lucas had no idea what were doing out in a field with little baskets, but as soon as i showed him how to pick the red raspberries, he was all over it!
There is no fee to get in but they say you shouldn't pick and eat before you pay... of course our little ones don't quite get it yet!! Lucas probably ate a whole basket by the time we were done!Here's Lucas picking a raspberry and then eating it right away!

After Lucas picked a full basket of raspberries, i took him back into the fields to pick flowers, of course that wasn't as exciting as picking berries so he whined the whole time! The strawberry fields were closed the day we went, but we'll be sure to make it again next year!!

1st Dental Visit

Lucas had his first dental visit last week. We took him to Young Dentistry in Westminster. We saw Dr. Howe and he gave Lucas is first dental exam. He showed Lucas all the tools he would be using and what he was gonna do. Lucas wouldn't sit in the chair by himself, so he sat in my lap while Dr. Howe counted all his teeth. He got a rave reviews from the doctor. He has 20 teeth, they all look good, no cavities, and it doesn't look like there will be any overcrowding when his permanent teeth come in! When we left, he got a prize out of the treasure chest... he chose a car! He was so thrilled about it, he wants to go back again! Dr Howe said to come back in 6 months for his first cleaning!

A day out with Thomas: The Finale!

We brought a picnic lunch for our trip to see Thomas, but we had to park sooo far and take a shuttle to the museum, that we ended up just eating in a shady grassy area of the parking area. It was nice and quiet and had a great view of the mountains and of course the big luxury buses that were shuttling families to and from the museum.Baby Avery snacking away on her cookie

Aside from riding Thomas, there were other things for the kids to do. Can't have a kids event without a fire truck!

A Day Out With Thomas Part 1

Thomas The Tank was in town this weekend at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden and we could not miss it! Lucas was so excited to see Thomas, the whole ride there, he kept saying Go see Thomas. There were lots of different activities for the kids. They had a little tent set up with many train tables and coloring stations; there was a petting zoo, a fire truck on display, lots of food, and of course the rest of the museum the tour.

For those who don't know, this is Sir Topham Hatt. Lucas was scared of him! It was kinda funny to watch, but Dad brought him closer and he was so excited to meet him. He kept waving and saying hi to Sir Topham Hatt.

It's all fun and games til someone gets hurt!

Lucas acts very silly sometimes and does some pretty weird things! On this day he decided to spin round and round in circles cause he likes the feeling of being dizzy! Here's a little footage of the action....

And this is what happens when it's not fun anymore....Moments after the video was taken, he hit his head on the edge of the couch. That was followed by loud screams and crying! It was definitely a long night. His eye is doing much better now! I can only hope that there will be no more spinning in my living room!

At the Park

After the Mighty Machines exhibit, we played at the park next to the museum for a little while. Lucas isn't really a big fan of the jungle gyms, but had a great time this time!Peekaboo!

The Children's Museum had a special exhibit earlier this month called Mighty Machines. They had a dump truck, a mini- excavator, and a front end loader on display for the kids to check out and climb in. This was definitely an event we could not miss! Lucas had soooo much fun checking out the trucks. We took so many pictures and can't post them all, so here are some favorites!

Avery's on the go!

I thought this day would never come! Avery's been sort of crawling for a while now. First she did a lot of rolling, then army crawling, then this kind of lurching thing! But today she decided that she wanted to crawl the right way and what do you know, it's faster! I guess my job got a little harder, cause she gets into things faster than she use to!

Lucas must've really missed his baby sister when he was in school because when we got home to eat lunch, he was all about her!!

Preschool

Oh how fast kids grow up! Lucas started preschool at Northglenn United Methodist Church. He's in the 1 1/2- 2 1/2 year old classroom, which is also known as the DUCKS. He goes to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-11:30am. The program follows the Storybook Journey Curriculum*.
We had Back to School night earlier in the week so the kids can see the classroom and meet the teachers. Lucas was very excited to see all the toys and the teachers (Miss Lindsay and Miss Regal) were all very nice and tried very hard to get Lucas to warm up to them.
Lucas had a rough time being dropped off (which happens all the time at the gym) but Miss Lindsay did a great job distracting Lucas with a tractor so I could leave.

*(in case you were wondering what the Storybook Journey actually entails, here's a brief paragraph about it)

It easy to engage young imaginations when books provide the inspiration for our unique curriculum entitled The Storybook Journey which:

• supports emergent literacy with in-depth exploration of books and stories

I didn't know what to do with myself for 2 and half hours without him! I got back to school early and found the kids outside playing, so i sneaked a few pictures!

They definitely know how to get in good with the kids! When I went to pick him up, the first thing he said to me was "Mama, I eat Cookie!" And all of you who know me, know that the kids don't get too many sweets! He told me he had a good time and that he wanted to come back to school!

The end of The Bay

Labor Day was the last day of the season for The Bay, so we thought we'd have one last hoorah! Even though the weather wasn't ideal, we all still had a very good time!Eric took Lucas on the slide

This was our farewell to summer! We look forward to next summer, when the kids are older and enjoy the pool a little more!

Estes Park

Over Labor Day weekend, we decided to take a little hike in Estes Park. We've never been there before and got a late start that morning so we didn't get to stay very long or see very much of it. We didn't know exactly where to go either, so we kinda drove through and stopped to "hike" (maybe not so much hiking since it was paved!) around Lake Estes.

We walked a total of 2.5 miles. Lucas almost made it the whole way, but after about 2 miles he got tired and pretty much collapsed! So he got a ride on Dad's shoulders!

Estes Park was definitely beautiful and we will be back again to check out the rest of the town!
